Abstract

In the case of tooth extraction due to severe alveolar bone resorption, extensive bone grafting is often required, making implant treatment difficult and increasing the overall treatment time. We report the long-term prognosis of two cases in which these issues were successfully resolved. To reduce the treatment period and difficulty of the procedure, we performed ridge preservation using xenograft materials and platelet-rich fibrin membranes at the time of extraction. After approximately 3 months, we performed implantation using guided implant surgery. This procedure allowed us to shorten the overall treatment period and place the implant in the ideal location with adequate torque, without extensive bone grafting. Furthermore, implants placed using this procedure showed a stable clinical and radiographic prognosis for more than 6 years.
